Google Unveils ‘Gemini Intelligence’: Revolutionizing Android with Smart Automation and Enhanced Features

Gemini Intelligence: Google Unveils Next-Generation Android Features

Google, on May 12, introduced Gemini Intelligence during The Android Show I/O Edition 2026, showcasing exciting enhancements coming to the future Android software. The company revealed that Gemini Intelligence is a collection of artificial intelligence features capable of managing complex tasks like booking, searching, summarising, and organising data.

This advanced technology also generates personalised widgets based on user habits, reducing daily friction which leads to fewer taps, less manual effort, and more seamless interactions. Gemini Intelligence is set to make its debut on the Samsung Galaxy S26 series and the Google Pixel 10 range later in 2026. Furthermore, Google plans to extend these AI features to various Android devices, including Wear OS smartwatches, Android Auto in vehicles, Android-powered smart glasses, and Android laptops.

Gemini Intelligence: Features and Capabilities

Gemini Intelligence transforms the operating system into an intelligent system by integrating AI-driven tools and functionalities on smartphones. A key aspect of this feature is the ability for cross-app task automation within third-party applications.

Gemini serves as a personal assistant, performing actions on behalf of users. For instance, it can arrange a fitness class, search Gmail for course outlines, add items to an online shopping basket, or create a grocery delivery order using details from a notes application.

Additionally, it has the capability to comprehend visual inputs. For example, if a user presents Gemini with an image of a travel brochure and requests a similar tour option on Expedia for six individuals, the AI can search for relevant choices independently and update the user with notifications.

Another innovative upgrade allows Gemini to autonomously fill in complex forms by gathering pertinent information from users’ connected applications. The Google Gboard features a “Rambler” function designed to enhance voice typing by refining informal speech into clearer written text. If a user communicates naturally with pauses or filler phrases like “um” or “uh,” repeated expressions, or unfinished sentences, Rambler can automatically transform it into a more polished and concise message.

Moreover, Google Intelligence enables users to create custom home screen widgets simply by expressing their preferences in natural language. With the “Create My Widget” option, users can send requests such as “Suggest three high-protein meal prep recipes every week” or “Show only wind speed and rain.” Using Gemini AI, the system will generate a functional widget that can be resized and added to the home screen.
