Infinix Unveils Revolutionary Solar-Powered Smartphone and E Ink Phone at MWC 2025
Infinix has introduced two groundbreaking concept devices at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, featuring a solar-powered smartphone alongside a colour-changing E Ink phone. Though these innovations remain in the prototype stage, they exemplify the brand’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile technology.
Solar-Powered Smartphone with Advanced Technology
The innovative smartphone from Infinix incorporates a solar panel on its rear, utilising a unique technology known as SolarEnergy-Reserving. This exciting system is powered by perovskite solar cells, which are lighter, more cost-effective, and simpler to manufacture compared to conventional silicon-based panels.
To ensure efficient power management, the device features Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT), optimising energy efficiency and preventing overheating when exposed to direct sunlight. Currently, the solar technology is capable of generating up to 2W of power, which primarily aims to enhance battery longevity rather than serve as the main charging source.
Innovative Solar-Powered Phone Case
Even more fascinating than the integrated solar panel is Infinix’s solar-powered phone case. Unlike the device itself, this detachable case provides users the flexibility to alternate between standard protection and solar-powered charging. It connects seamlessly to the smartphone through small side contacts, enabling power delivery without needing an additional charging port.
This feature could be particularly advantageous during emergencies, such as power outages or outdoor activities, where additional battery capacity could be crucial.
Next-Generation Colour-Changing E Ink Phone
Infinix is also set to launch the second generation of its innovative colour-changing E Ink phone. The updated device improves upon its predecessor by allowing colour changes directly from the phone’s internal battery, enhancing its functionality.
Users now have the ability to personalise the colour and patterns on the back panel, selecting from various preset designs or utilising an AI-driven system to match colours with their photos or current weather conditions.
Details regarding the release date or commercial availability of these cutting-edge innovations remain undisclosed.
