Panther Lake: Intel’s Groundbreaking AI PC Platform
Panther Lake is Intel’s pioneering AI PC platform, utilising their advanced Intel 18A process technology, which was unveiled at the Intel Tech Tour 2025. This innovative architecture is included in the Intel Core Ultra Series 3, representing a significant advancement in AI-enhanced computing and local chip production in the United States.
Production and Manufacturing Insights
Intel has indicated that Panther Lake is currently in production, with plans for high-volume manufacturing to commence later this year at the new Fab 52 facility located in Chandler, Arizona. This fabrication facility, part of Intel’s $100 billion investment strategy in the U.S., marks a critical milestone in bolstering the nation’s technology and semiconductor supply chain.

Performance and Specifications
Panther Lake is set to power a diverse array of AI PCs, gaming devices, and edge solutions. Constructed on a scalable, multi-chiplet system, the new Intel Core Ultra Series 3 processors combine flexibility and performance across various form factors and price ranges. Intel asserts that these processors provide over 50 percent faster CPU and GPU performance compared to the previous generation while achieving efficiencies comparable to Lunar Lake.
AI Acceleration and GPU Features
This platform also enables up to 180 trillion operations per second (TOPS) for AI acceleration and features a new Intel Arc GPU, boasting up to 12 Xe cores. Panther Lake is expected to hit the market in January 2026, with initial units scheduled to ship before the year’s end.
Upcoming Products
Additionally, Intel previewed its forthcoming Xeon 6+ processors, code-named Clearwater Forest. Anticipated to release in the first half of 2026, Clearwater Forest aims to enhance density, throughput, and power efficiency within modern data centres. It will include up to 288 efficiency cores (E-cores), promising a 17 percent increase in Instructions Per Cycle (IPC) compared to the previous generation.
Technology Advancements
The Intel 18A, a 2-nanometre-class node that powers both platforms, introduces two groundbreaking technologies—RibbonFET and PowerVia—focused on elevating performance and energy efficiency. When compared to the Intel 3 node, Intel 18A offers up to 15 percent enhanced performance per watt and a 30 percent increase in chip density.
Manufacturing Ecosystem
Fab 52 will become the principal manufacturing location for these chips, joining Intel’s Oregon research hub and New Mexico packaging operations to create a comprehensive U.S. semiconductor ecosystem. The company highlights that this site reaffirms its 56-year legacy of innovation and its goal of becoming a reliable foundry for the AI-driven future.
