Mahindra’s XEV 9S marks its debut in the electric vehicle segment as a 7-seater SUV based on the INGLO platform. This model is crafted to provide ample space, making it ideal for families in search of comfort, practicality, and modern technology in an electric vehicle format.
Launched in Bengaluru, the XEV 9S will be offered in six variants, with starting prices of ₹19.95 lakh. Bookings will open on 14 January 2026, and deliveries are set to start on 23 January 2026. Customers can choose from options featuring a 70 kWh battery or the premium Pack Three Above variant with a 79 kWh battery, priced at ₹29.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra aims to position the XEV 9S as a spacious alternative to both electric and traditional SUVs. The emphasis is on comfort, tranquillity, and versatility within the cabin, which boasts a three-row design geared towards electric vehicles.
R Velusamy, President of Automotive Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., stated that technology finds its true meaning when it enhances human potential. The XEV 9S, built on the INGLO electric origin platform, exemplifies this by offering unparalleled space and a smooth, quiet driving experience. The MAIA brain powers many of its advanced features, making it a leading contender in its price range.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO of Mahindra’s Automotive Division, mentioned that the future of mobility in India will belong to brands that do more than electrify. With the XEV 9S, they are not just entering the EV market but are redefining it.
Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer, pointed out that shaping the XEV 9S was not merely about aesthetics but about creating an inviting experience. The goal was for it to feel like a personal retreat while embodying the essence of contemporary India.
Mahindra asserts that the XEV 9S features the largest cabin in its category, offering 4076 litres of space across the first and second rows, in addition to a 527-litre boot. A 150-litre frunk adds to its utility, which is uncommon in this market segment.
The SUV comes equipped with a panoramic skyroof, expansive screens on the dashboard, luxurious upholstery options, and an acoustically insulated cabin enhanced by laminated glass.
