Apple’s iPhones, specifically the iPhone 17 Pro Max, began to gain prominence when NASA approved them for use on the Artemis 2 Moon mission. After the mission’s success, Artemis II Commander Reid Wiseman shared a captivating video showcasing the ‘Earthset’ as the spacecraft made its way towards the Moon. This breathtaking footage was shot from the Orion docking hatch window, using the iPhone 17 Pro Max.

Wiseman’s Thoughts on the Experience

On an X post, Wiseman expressed the uniqueness of this experience, stating that it felt like witnessing a sunset on Earth from an extraordinary vantage point in space. He was unable to see the Moon clearly through the docking hatch, but the iPhone’s compact size made it ideal for capturing such a remarkable view. He noted that the video displayed the unaltered footage with 8x zoom, comparable to the human eye’s perspective.

In a 53-second video clip, viewers can observe the Moon’s craters while the Earth gradually fades from sight, offering a rare glimpse of “Earthset” from the cosmos.
