The Lava Agni 4 distinguishes itself with a design that feels more premium than its price might suggest. The device features an aluminium alloy frame and a matte AG glass back, a combination typically seen in more expensive flagship models. This material choice adds both structural durability and a refined, tactile finish that is resistant to fingerprints. Additionally, the device has practical features, with an IP64 rating for dust and splash protection. A customisable ‘Action Key’ is also included for quick shortcuts, which, while technically useful, might seem like a pressure-driven addition.
The visual experience is anchored by a 6.67-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with an impressive resolution of 1220 x 2712 pixels. This panel is vibrant and sharp, delivering a 120Hz refresh rate that ensures smooth scrolling and animations. With a peak brightness of up to 2,400 nits, outdoor visibility is excellent, essential for use in direct sunlight. Protection is provided by Corning Gorilla Glass 5, adding to the device’s overall premium feel. This screen certainly impresses.
Performance: Commendable Powerhouse
Performance stands out as one of the Agni 4’s key strengths. It is powered by the capable MediaTek Dimensity 8350 5G chipset, paired with an impressive memory setup of 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. This combination ensures a swift, lag-free experience whether opening applications, browsing the internet, or engaging in heavy multitasking.
To test its performance, high-end games such as COD Mobile were run on high settings. The Agni 4 delivered excellent results, maintaining stable frame rates even during intense gameplay. It was possible to run the game smoothly on Very High graphics with Maximum framerate. For thermal management, Lava has integrated a large 4300mm² VC liquid cooling system. This feature proved effective, as the phone remained comfortable to hold even after extended gaming sessions, showcasing its ability to maintain peak performance without significant thermal throttling.
Battery: All-Day Endurance with Fast Charging
The phone is equipped with a standard 5,000mAh battery, a dependable choice for modern mid-range devices. Thanks to the efficient Dimensity 8350 processor coupled with clean software optimisation, the device easily lasts a full day under mixed, heavy usage, including constant social media interaction, streaming, and several hours of calls.
Charging is also efficient, with 66W fast charging support allowing quick refuelling. The included charger can bring the battery to 50% in about 20 minutes, with a full charge achievable in under an hour. Therefore, battery anxiety is not a concern.
Cameras: Decent Output with Room for Fine-Tuning
The camera configuration appears robust on paper, featuring a dual rear setup with a 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) and an 8MP ultra-wide lens, complemented by a large 50MP selfie camera at the front. Both the front and rear cameras support video recording at up to 4K 60fps, a feature that remains rare in this price segment.
In practical usage, the primary camera delivers decent results in daylight conditions. Although details are captured well, it has been observed that the camera tends to slightly over-sharpen images, which can lead to a processed look, particularly when closely examining the photos. The dynamic range is generally acceptable but can struggle in high-contrast situations. However, the portrait mode proves impressive with reliable edge detection and a pleasing bokeh effect. The 50MP selfie camera performs well, capturing detailed and well-exposed images.

UI: Clean, Intuitive, and AI-Driven
The Lava Agni 4 operates on a nearly stock version of Android 15, a refreshing departure from the heavily customised interfaces commonly found in competing models. The lack of bloatware promotes a swift, uncluttered user experience. Lava has also committed to a solid software support cycle, promising three years of Android OS upgrades alongside four years of security patches.
A notable software addition is Vayu AI, Lava’s system-level AI companion. While the AI suite designed for productivity, learning, and creativity proves genuinely useful, the interface integration could benefit from enhancements. The built-in AI pet widget, intended as an interactive assistant on the home screen, requires adjustments for smoother usage; it often necessitates multiple taps or specific phrases for accurate responses.
