Meta AI Support Assistant: Enhanced User Experience on Facebook and Instagram

Meta has introduced the Meta AI support assistant across Facebook and Instagram globally, offering users round-the-clock assistance with account settings, profiles, and app features. In addition to this support assistant, the company aims to implement AI-driven content enforcement to detect harmful content more effectively, reduce scams, and improve response times.

Meta AI Support Assistant: How It Operates

As outlined in a recent Meta blog post, the Meta AI support assistant is crafted to address account-related issues anytime. This feature is currently being rolled out worldwide on Facebook and Instagram apps for iOS, Android, as well as Facebook and Instagram desktop interfaces through the Help Centre.

The Meta AI support assistant is integrated into both platforms, ensuring help is always just a click away. It can handle inquiries typically in under five seconds, significantly cutting down wait times in comparison to traditional support centres.

Capabilities of the AI Assistant

This AI assistant is equipped to assist users with numerous account-related questions, such as adjusting notification settings or exploring new features. It also aids in managing privacy settings, resetting passwords, and addressing more complex concerns. Users can take action against scams, impersonation accounts, or any questionable content with the assistant’s guidance.

Account Recovery via AI Support Assistant

Furthermore, Meta is implementing features allowing users to regain access to their Facebook and Instagram accounts through the AI support assistant. Initially, this function will be exclusive to users in the US before expanding globally.

AI-Powered Content Enforcement

Meta has been testing advanced AI technologies for content enforcement across its platforms, with preliminary results indicating remarkable progress in identifying scams, impersonation, and harmful content.

The company asserts it has been able to identify 5,000 scam attempts daily and has decreased user reports of celebrity impersonation by over 80%, while detecting violating adult content with an accuracy improvement of 60%.

Moreover, these AI systems are aiding in combating account takeovers and fraudulent websites by recognising patterns, and much more. These efforts are being executed in languages spoken by 98% of internet users.

Meta has mentioned that they can enhance capacity in any language based on necessity and rapidly adapt to grasp cultural nuances—including niche subcultures, swiftly evolving and regionally specific code words, interpretations of emojis, and slang.
