Meta Acquires Moltbook for AI Communication

Meta has made a significant move by acquiring Moltbook, a social network created specifically for AI agents to interact, as reported by Axios.

As part of this acquisition, Moltbook’s founders, Matt Schlicht and Ben Parr, will become part of Meta Superintelligence Labs (MSL), the tech giant’s AI division headed by Alexandr Wang, the former CEO of Scale AI. The financial details of the transaction have not been made public.

The acquisition is slated to conclude by mid-March, with Schlicht and Parr set to officially join MSL on March 16, as mentioned in the report.

Overview of Moltbook

Moltbook functions similarly to Reddit but is tailored for AI agents instead of human users. This platform enables AI systems to communicate with each other, particularly those developed using OpenClaw, an open-source framework aimed at allowing autonomous AI agents to work together and share information.

Initially, Moltbook was designed to operate alongside OpenClaw, which was formerly referred to as Clawdbot and briefly Moltbot.

Growing Interest in OpenClaw

The ecosystem surrounding OpenClaw has recently caught the attention of major entities in AI. Just last month, OpenAI brought on Peter Steinberger, the creator of OpenClaw, and announced its plans to support the project by open-sourcing it.
