Mystery Unveiled: Google Introduces an Easter Egg Inspired by Severance Season 2 Finale

Severance Success on Apple TV+

Severance has emerged as a massive hit for Apple TV+, and in celebration of the season 2 finale on Friday, Google has introduced a fun easter egg in its search results. When users search for ‘Severance’ on Google, they are greeted with large blue balloons that fill the entire screen. This easter egg is accessible on both mobile devices and desktops.

Ben Stiller, the director of the acclaimed series, shared on X (previously known as Twitter) that Google is showcasing these blue balloons to honour the finale of season 2.

The blue balloons reference the Lumon balloons presented by Mr. Milchick to Mark S. during his return to the office in the season 2 premiere. Earlier, Apple had also leveraged the blue balloons in its promotional strategy by creating a webpage that encouraged users to upload their photos to feature their own faces on one of Lumon’s iconic blue balloons.

According to Apple, Severance has officially become the most-watched series ever on the Apple TV+ streaming service, surpassing all prior records held by Ted Lasso—a show centring around an American football coach who takes charge of a team in England’s Premier League. Apple revealed that the show’s immense popularity led to a significant spike in Apple TV+ subscriptions in January, compared to the month before.
