OpenAI Launches ChatGPT Go in India with a Monthly Subscription of ₹399: Discover the Benefits!

ChatGPT Go: Affordable AI Solution for Indian Users

ChatGPT Go has been introduced by OpenAI as a new subscription option, available at ₹399 per month. This initiative is focused on India and aims to tackle two main issues users face: cost and local payment methods.

Launch of ChatGPT Go in India

Nick Turley, who serves as Vice President and Head of ChatGPT, mentioned that this plan is debuting in India before being offered to the global audience. He highlighted that there was a consistent demand from Indian users for more affordable pricing alongside support for the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), which is the most prevalent digital payment system in India.

Features of the Go Plan

The new Go plan provides subscribers with significantly enhanced capabilities, offering ten times the limits for messaging, image creation, and file uploads when compared to the complimentary tier, and it also features double the memory length. However, benefits like priority access during peak times and early access to new features will remain exclusive to the higher-tier Plus and Pro plans.

Updated Pricing Structure

OpenAI has revised all subscription options to reflect prices in Indian rupees, which aims to eliminate any confusion regarding currency conversions. In India, OpenAI now presents four plans: the free tier, the Go plan at ₹399, the Plus plan for ₹1,999, and the Pro plan priced at ₹19,999 per month.

Focus on the Indian Market

This launch comes as OpenAI is placing increased emphasis on India, a rapidly expanding market for generative AI solutions. Earlier this month, co-founder and CEO Sam Altman indicated that India is projected to become OpenAI’s leading market by volume in the near future.

Competitive Edge Against Rivals

This strategic move also enhances OpenAI’s position against competitors. For example, Google’s AI Pro plan is offered at ₹1,950 per month, while Microsoft’s Copilot Pro costs ₹2,000 per month. In contrast, ChatGPT Go provides a more budget-conscious choice for students, freelancers, and professionals requiring flexible usage without the financial burden of premium tiers.

Recent Announcements by OpenAI

This is the third significant announcement from OpenAI within a month, following the introduction of GPT-5 and the launch of ChatGPT tailored for students. With ChatGPT Go, OpenAI aims to close the gap between free and premium options, striving to make AI tools more accessible for everyday users.
