Responsibilities of the Chief People Officer

KC will play a pivotal role in shaping how OpenAI supports and manages its workforce as the organisation expands. His responsibilities span hiring, onboarding, and developing policies that foster effective teamwork. Additionally, he will assist OpenAI in navigating the shift towards AI in a responsible manner.

OpenAI’s Perspective on AI in the Workplace

According to OpenAI’s blog, it is essential for companies to manage the transition towards AI-integrated workplaces wisely. Instead of allowing AI to displace employees, OpenAI aims to demonstrate a model where AI amplifies human capabilities, enabling workers to achieve more.

Investment in Employee Development

The organisation has expressed its commitment to investing in employee training and development, ensuring that staff can evolve alongside advancing technology.

KCs Vision for the Future

KC articulated a crucial point by stating that this is a time when every organisation must reconsider work dynamics, team needs, employee growth, and adaptability as tools evolve. He is enthusiastic about joining OpenAI to tackle these challenges collaboratively with users, customers, and partners, shaping the future together.

KCs Background and Previous Experience

Prior to this role, KC served as Chief People and Systems Officer at Roblox and held senior positions at Google, Palantir Technologies, and Meta. He holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University Institute of Chemical Technology in Maharashtra and completed his MBA at Santa Clara University.

Transition in Leadership

KC takes over from Julia Villagra, the previous Chief People Officer at OpenAI, who left the organisation in August 2025 to pursue personal interests.
