Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Launch in India
Ray-Ban Meta Glasses Details
Ray-Ban Meta glasses will officially debut in India on 19 May 2025, with a pricing set at ₹29,900. Meta recently confirmed the launch of these smart glasses, providing crucial details about availability and cost that were previously lacking.
Availability and Pre-Order Information
Pre-orders for Ray-Ban Meta glasses are currently open on the Ray-Ban website, and they will be available in leading optical and sunglass retail locations across the nation from May 19.
Features of Ray-Ban Meta Glasses
The Ray-Ban Meta glasses were globally introduced in September 2023, succeeding the original Ray-Ban Stories. These smart glasses boast an improved design, superior sound quality, expanded app compatibility, and advanced AI functionalities. Notably, Ray-Ban Meta glasses come equipped with Meta AI, allowing users to activate features simply by saying “Hey Meta”.
Capabilities of Ray-Ban Meta Glasses
With the Ray-Ban Meta glasses, users can capture photographs, record videos, stream music, translate languages in real time, and send messages without needing to reach for their smartphones.
Live Translation Feature
A standout feature is the live translation tool, which is being launched on a global scale. This tool supports multiple languages including English, French, Italian, and Spanish, providing real-time voice translations directly through the glasses, alongside a transcript accessible on the connected phone. Remarkably, this feature is available offline if the required language packs are downloaded, making it advantageous for those who travel frequently.
Concerns About Data Privacy
Despite the innovative features, the product has faced criticism regarding user privacy. Recently, Meta alerted users via email that it will now store all voice interactions by default, eliminating the option to opt-out of data collection entirely.
Changes to Voice Recording Policy
Previously, users had the choice to prevent their voice recordings from being stored while utilising the AI features of their smart glasses. Under the new policy, this option has been removed. Voice recordings will now be automatically saved whenever the “Hey Meta” voice assistant is activated, although users retain the ability to manually delete specific recordings through the device settings.
