Realme’s P-series initiated its journey in early 2024 with an objective: to deliver powerful performance for those on a budget. The newest addition, the Realme P3 Pro 5G, seeks to exceed expectations with an enhanced processor, a hefty battery, and a high-end design, all while keeping its price accessible, starting at Rs 23,999.
But does it meet its promises? Time spent with the 12GB + 256GB variant in Saturn Brown provided the opportunity to explore this further.
Design and Display
The standout feature of the Realme P3 Pro is its luxurious leather back cover, which not only improves grip but also adds a touch of elegance. The phone’s evenly distributed weight ensures a comfortable feel in hand, while the flat design, coupled with subtly curved edges, enhances its contemporary look.
Despite the stylish circular camera module that slightly protrudes, causing a wobble on flat surfaces, the device’s IP66/68/69 rating for water and dust resistance adds a layer of durability for daily usage.
The Realme P3 Pro boasts a 6.83-inch quad-curved AMOLED display that offers impressive visuals. With Full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz, it presents vibrant hues, deep contrasts, and seamless interactions. Whether watching Spider-Man: No Way Home or engaging in BGMI, the display rendered immersive graphics and dependable touch response. Clarity remained remarkable, even under bright sunlight, facilitating outdoor usability.
Performance and Software
Equipped with the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor and up to 12GB of RAM along with 256GB UFS 3.1 storage, the Realme P3 Pro excels in handling daily tasks. From browsing social media to multitasking and gaming, the experience was consistently fast and efficient.
During extensive sessions of BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile, there were no noticeable lags or frame drops. With Realme’s GT Boost technology, gaming performance is optimised, enhancing frame rates and touch response. While gaming BGMI at 90fps, the experience was steady, even with fluctuating Wi-Fi signals. The AI touch controls also provided a competitive edge during fast-paced gameplay.
On the software side, Realme UI 6, which is based on Android 15, delivers a user-friendly and feature-rich experience. Navigating feels intuitive, and the smooth animations are a joy to use. Useful AI tools like AI Writer and AI Recorder add practicality, although some pre-installed apps may be removed for a more streamlined interface.
Cameras
The 50MP Sony IM896 sensor with OIS captures detailed images in bright conditions, resulting in vibrant colours and excellent dynamic range. A 2MP depth sensor helps with portrait photos, producing decent background blur; however, the absence of an ultra-wide lens is a noted drawback in this price segment.
Self-portraits taken with the 16MP Sony IMX480 sensor appeared natural, showcasing accurate skin tones and good detail. Recording videos is smooth with support for 4K at 30fps and ultra-steady mode, ensuring stable footage.
While the camera capabilities are commendable, including an ultra-wide lens would have enhanced its competitiveness further.
Battery Life
A highlight of the Realme P3 Pro is undoubtedly its 6000mAh battery, which provides over a day and a half of usage with normal activities. After several hours of gaming and browsing social media, only a 20% drop in battery was observed.
Enhancing the battery experience further is the 80W fast charging, which charges the phone from near-empty to full in less than an hour, making it invaluable during busy days when a quick recharge is necessary.
The Realme P3 Pro 5G delivers a premium exterior, smooth performance, extended battery life, and robust gaming prowess at a compelling price point. Its strong build, lightweight feel, and engaging display make it an ideal choice for everyday use.
However, the lack of an ultra-wide camera and a somewhat cluttered UI may concern some users. Despite this, for those in search of a powerful mid-range smartphone that strikes a balance among style, performance, and battery efficiency, the Realme P3 Pro 5G stands out as a competitive option in the under Rs 25,000 category.
