Redmi Watch Move: Affordable Smartwatch at ₹1,999
The Redmi Watch Move makes a compelling statement from Xiaomi priced at ₹1,999: quality smartwatches do not have to break the bank. Although it doesn’t redefine the category, it offers enough elegance, features, and aesthetic appeal to capture the attention of budget-conscious smartwatch shoppers.
Design & Display: Punchy and Practical
The Redmi Watch Move sports a sleek and contemporary design, featuring a lightweight plastic frame that feels premium on the wrist. Available in vibrant shades such as Gold Rush and Black Drift, the antibacterial strap is safe for the skin and can be effortlessly swapped thanks to its quick-release pins.
The showpiece is undoubtedly the 1.85-inch AMOLED display – vibrant, colourful, and sharp at 390×450 pixels. With a peak brightness of 600 nits, visibility outdoors poses no issues. The Always-On Display feature adds a hint of luxury, although it can slightly drain the battery.
The functional crown on the side enhances user experience, allowing for quick scrolling and shortcut access. Plus, with an IP68 rating, users need not worry about rain or intense workouts.
Smart Features: Not Just For Show
Running on Xiaomi’s new HyperOS, the Watch Move is equipped with over 140 workout modes, featuring auto-detection for seven popular sports. Health tracking is impressive for its price, offering continuous heart rate monitoring, SpO₂ tracking, sleep analysis, stress management, and even female health tracking.
Bluetooth calling is reliable, supported by an adequate built-in speaker and microphone. Users have access to a complete dial pad, call logs, and the option to send quick replies directly from the wrist, a rarity even in more expensive devices.
Additional features include music and camera control, Find My Phone, alarm, stopwatch, and over 200 watch faces available through the Mi Fitness app. Localised features such as Hindi language support and India-themed watch faces indicate Xiaomi’s awareness of its audience.
Battery Life: Days of Freedom
Redmi asserts a battery life of up to 14 days on a full charge and around 5 days with the Always On Display activated, which is commendable. A swift 10-minute charge provides enough power for two days, making it nearly impossible to deplete this watch inadvertently.
During testing, with all settings maximised, including Always-On Display, the watch managed to last approximately four days, which exceeds many smartwatches in the same price range.
Verdict: A Budget No-Brainer
The Redmi Watch Move doesn’t aim to outdo flagship competition; it simply excels in what counts: a stunning AMOLED display, seamless Bluetooth calling, effective fitness tracking, and robust build quality. At ₹1,999, it stands out as one of the best-value smartwatches currently available.
For those new to smartwatches or anyone looking for a secondary device for workouts without overspending, the Watch Move is an exceptional choice.
