Google is reportedly undertaking a significant transformation of its Gemini app, aiming to refresh its homepage and chat features. This redesign focuses on creating a more visually appealing and contemporary layout. A report from 9To5Google indicates that the updates could impact the entire homepage, chat design, animations, or visuals, potentially leading to a more engaging user interface.
The newly revamped Gemini app is anticipated to be available for users on both Android and iOS platforms, but a select group of iPhone users has begun to receive the updated user interface. Nevertheless, it remains uncertain when the wider rollout will occur or when Android users will gain access.

Redesigned Gemini App: What to Expect
Some iOS users have begun sharing images of the updated Gemini app on Reddit. One notable addition is the introduction of a pill-shaped prompt box, which offers a more rounded and capsule-like look. Users can quickly access voice input and Gemini Live functions from the right side of the input area. A new “plus” button is also featured, allowing users to open a menu with additional capabilities such as Photos, Camera, recent images, Files, Notebooks, and more.
The app is set to include a consolidated tools section, where users will be able to access AI features such as image creation, video production, music utilities, Canvas, Deep Research, and Guided Learning. Each tool will come with brief descriptions to assist users in understanding its functions.

Google has also announced changes to the homepage greeting, now displaying “Hi [name], what’s on your mind?”, along with a fresh background design showcasing soft animated colour gradients, enhancing the vibrancy of the interface.
The company has restructured the navigational system within the Gemini app. The model selector, utilized for switching between various Gemini AI models, has been relocated to the top-left corner as a dropdown menu. The account switcher has been repositioned to the bottom of the side navigation menu. Finally, the app now features redesigned icons that appear thinner, more rounded, and cleaner in design.
