Voice Notes have been reintroduced to X Chat, the social media platform owned by Elon Musk, allowing users to send audio messages once more. This feature had been removed previously but is now available for both individual and group conversations, though it will not be available for public posts.
In a recent announcement, the company shared that Voice Notes on X Chat is now available to improve the chat experience as competitors like WhatsApp continue to lead the instant messaging sector.

Voice Notes Returns: Key Features
According to the company’s announcement, Voice Notes is being rolled out within X Chat, the direct messaging system of the X app. To initiate an audio message, users should click on the voice input icon located near the text box. Recording requires users to press and hold a button while speaking.
Additionally, there is an alternative recording method where users can press the button and then swipe up to capture audio hands-free.
Voice messaging is a standard feature across many messaging platforms. By reintroducing it, X appears to be positioning itself to compete more effectively with other applications, making X Chat more appealing for users who prefer audio communication over typing.

X Chat offers a variety of additional features, including message editing and deletion, user blocking, screenshot notifications, file sharing, video calling, and more. This enhancement aligns with Elon Musk’s ambition to evolve X into an “everything app.”
Moreover, the company is also experimenting with financial features such as X Money, which is expected to provide payment services within the X application and is reportedly being trialed as a standalone app.
