Personal Intelligence is being expanded by Google into AI Mode within Search, shortly after announcing this feature in the Gemini app. With Personal Intelligence, AI Mode can draw information from users’ Gmail and Google Photos to analyse elements such as travel plans, events, and more, ensuring tailored search results.

In a recent blog post, it was showcased that Search could extract users’ personal context and insights to deliver more relevant responses. This innovation will remove the need for users to provide context, preferences, or prior plans for every single search. According to the blog, it identifies recommendations that are exclusively for each user from the outset.

How to Use Personal Intelligence in AI Mode

As it can access data from users’ Gmail and Photos, when looking for activities or dining options during an upcoming trip, AI Mode can find useful details such as hotel bookings from Gmail and past travel memories stored in Google Photos.

Utilising this data, it can propose a personalised itinerary, featuring preferred places and restaurants, thus freeing users from the usual generic suggestions typically provided by Google.

Shopping Assistance with AI Mode

Google also underscored that AI Mode in Search could assist users with their shopping needs. It can propose clothing and accessories tailored to the user’s preferred brands and travel plans. Google positions this feature as a personal shopper that is familiar with the user’s itinerary and desired atmosphere.

Exploring Fun Questions

Moreover, users can engage with playful queries such as what the title and genre of their life would be if it were a film or how to describe their ideal day.

Ensuring Privacy with Personal Information

Google clarified that linking Gmail and Google Photos is an optional feature, allowing users to decide whether to connect these applications to Search. Additionally, the company guarantees that its AI model does not train using data from users’ Gmail accounts or Google Photos collections.

The rollout of the Personal Intelligence feature in AI Mode is currently available to Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers in English in the U.S.
