HMC E-Valley Pvt. Ltd Establishes Centre of Excellence for Light Electric Vehicles

HMC E-Valley Pvt. Ltd, part of the HMC HIVE initiative, has entered into a memorandum of understanding with KPIT Technologies to set up an independent Centre of Excellence in Delhi NCR, focusing on light electric vehicles and micromobility solutions.

Partnership Overview

This collaboration unites HIVE’s manufacturing and e-mobility capabilities with KPIT’s expertise in mobility software and systems engineering. The planned centre will serve global original equipment manufacturers engaged in micromobility and L-category electric vehicles, including e-bicycles.

Response to Urban Transport Needs

The alliance emerges at a significant moment, as urban transport systems increasingly seek sustainable and efficient options for short-distance travel. Light electric vehicles are becoming increasingly popular for first and last-mile connectivity, especially as cities strive to mitigate congestion and emissions. With a considerable portion of daily travel concentrated on last-mile journeys, this segment is set to experience substantial growth in the coming years.

Statements from Leadership

Regarding this collaboration, Pankaj M Munjal, the Chairman of HMC, expressed that the Light Electric Vehicle industry stands at a crucial turning point that calls for a blend of advanced hardware and intelligent software. He noted that this partnership with KPIT represents a significant convergence of these elements, reflecting HIVE’s strong commitment to transforming urban mobility through the provision of high-quality, sustainable micromobility solutions on a global scale.

Kishor Patil, the CEO and Managing Director of KPIT Technologies, pointed out the essential role of software in shaping future mobility platforms. He remarked that even in the field of micromobility, the future is characterised by intelligent software and seamless systems integration. He added that KPIT’s extensive expertise in mobility technology will be vital for the Centre of Excellence, enabling the development of world-class, cost-effective, and safe LEV platforms. The merging of their software leadership with HIVE’s manufacturing excellence aims to hasten the transition towards safer, more intelligent, and cleaner transportation.

Services Offered by the Centre of Excellence

Under the terms of the agreement, the Centre of Excellence will provide comprehensive design and engineering services focused on the light electric vehicle sector. HIVE will take charge of business development, customer engagement, prototyping, and manufacturing support, while KPIT will oversee engineering delivery, detailed design, software development, systems integration, and programme management.

Global Scope and Future Goals

This partnership is designed to have a global impact, supporting the creation of next-generation light electric vehicle platforms. By combining scalable manufacturing, improving supply chain efficiencies, and implementing AI-driven mobility solutions, both companies aspire to reduce development cycles and enhance product quality for OEM customers around the world.
