Galaxy S25 Edge: A New Era in Slim Smartphones

Galaxy S25 Edge is nearing its launch date, prompting Samsung to share more information regarding this highly anticipated smartphone. Recently, Samsung confirmed the release date of the phone on 13 May and highlighted the impressive 200MP main camera lens. Today, Samsung unveiled an additional crucial detail concerning the Galaxy S25 Edge.

Durability with Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2

With their latest announcement, Samsung stated that the Galaxy S25 Edge will incorporate Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, promising enhanced durability for users.

Kwangjin Bae, EVP and Head of the Mechanical R&D Team in the Mobile eXperience Business (MX) at Samsung Electronics, emphasised, “Galaxy S25 Edge will set a new standard for craftsmanship and performance as our slimmest Galaxy S series device yet. To support this breakthrough design, developing a display material that is exceptionally thin and reliably strong was essential. This challenge united Corning and Samsung, both aligned with a vision for purposeful engineering and user-centric innovation. That vision is embedded in every detail of Galaxy S25 Edge.”

Specifications Unveiled

In a significant earlier leak regarding the S25 Edge, several features were disclosed, including the integration of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, which is now officially recognised by Samsung.

The leak also suggested that Samsung might utilise Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for the rear of the device, though this detail has yet to receive official confirmation from the company.

Design and Display Features

Regarding its design, the Galaxy S25 Edge is expected to feature a titanium frame, with a slim profile of just 5.85mm and a weight of only 163g. The display promises to be a 6.7-inch 1440×3120 AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz, accompanied by an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor conveniently positioned under the display.

Performance Specifications

This smartphone is anticipated to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, complemented by 12GB of RAM. The back camera setup will include dual lenses; the confirmed 200MP main camera and a 12MP ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Additionally, there is a 12MP f/2.2 selfie camera.

Battery and Resistance Ratings

In terms of battery life, some trade-offs are anticipated. Being Samsung’s slimmest smartphone to date, the battery capacity is likely to be reduced to 3900mAh, which may affect usability. Furthermore, it is expected to come with an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance.
