Samsung has introduced the Galaxy Z Flip7, a cutting-edge foldable phone designed to redefine pocket-sized technology. This device features an expansive edge-to-edge FlexWindow, enhanced AI capabilities, a refined design, and an improved camera setup, showcasing a perfect harmony of style and functionality.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 exemplifies that significant intelligence can indeed exist in a compact form, according to TM Roh, who is the President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience (DX) at Samsung Electronics. By integrating sophisticated multimodal AI features and smooth functionalities into the FlexWindow, this phone is crafted to adapt, anticipate, and empower users, paving the way for a more intuitive interaction with their environment.
The most notable design enhancement is the 4.1-inch Super AMOLED FlexWindow, which is now brighter at 2,600 nits and extends to the edges. This allows users to preview messages, manage music, utilise widgets, and engage with the AI voice assistant Gemini without the need to open the device. This updated cover screen also provides real-time app activity through the Now Bar and personalised daily updates via Now Brief.
On the inside, the main 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display offers striking visuals with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate. The phone is powered by a custom 3nm processor and boasts the largest battery in any Galaxy Z Flip model—4,300mAh—allowing for up to 31 hours of video playback.
A standout feature of the Flip7 is its camera system. The dual rear setup consists of a 50MP wide lens and a 12MP ultra-wide lens. FlexCam enables users to capture selfies and videos directly from the cover screen, complemented by new features such as Real-Time Filters, Zoom Slider, and Dual Preview for a more engaging shooting experience. Enhanced Nightography and 10-bit HDR support significantly improve low-light photography and video quality.
For the first time, Samsung is introducing its PC-style DeX mode to the Flip series, allowing users to connect the phone to a display for an enriched desktop experience.
A more affordable variant, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, was also unveiled. This version retains many core features while offering a simpler design with a 6.7-inch main screen and a 3.4-inch cover display, a 50MP camera, and Android 16 featuring One UI 8.
Privacy has been upgraded in the Flip7 series with the inclusion of Samsung Knox and newly introduced app-specific encrypted storage via KEEP. Samsung emphasizes advancements in quantum-resistant encryption to secure user data across various networks.
The Galaxy Z Flip7 will come in several colours: Blue Shadow, Jet Black, Coral Red, and a Mint shade exclusive to Samsung’s online outlet. The Flip7 FE is available in Black and White. Pre-orders are set to commence on July 9, with general availability starting from July 25. Additionally, Samsung is providing six months of complimentary access to Google AI Pro and 2TB of cloud storage with both models.
