Galaxy Watch8 – Smarter Wellness Tracking with AI

Galaxy Watch8 – Revolutionising Smartwatch Wellness Tracking

Galaxy Watch8 stands out as the latest innovation from Samsung Electronics, introducing both the Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic. These smartwatches are touted as the thinnest and most comfortable options to date, specifically designed to enhance wellness tracking through advanced AI technology. Pre-orders are currently available, with a global release set for July 25.

Design and Comfort of Galaxy Watch8

The Galaxy Watch series builds upon the cushion design initially showcased in the Galaxy Watch Ultra. Significant internal modifications have resulted in the Galaxy Watch8 being 11% slimmer than its predecessors. A new Dynamic Lug system allows the watch to conform naturally to the wrist, thereby improving comfort and accuracy in health tracking.

TM Roh’s Insights on Wellness

TM Roh, President and Acting Head of the Device eXperience Division at Samsung Electronics, remarked that by merging thoughtful design with cutting-edge sensor technology alongside an intuitive AI-centric approach, the Galaxy Watch8 series serves as a foundation for a healthier and more connected lifestyle.

Enhanced Display and Performance

The display of the Galaxy Watch8 now boasts a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, making it 50% brighter than earlier models. It is powered by Samsung’s most advanced and efficient 3nm processor. A dual-frequency GPS system provides improved location accuracy, while extended battery life ensures the device is suitable for all-day use.

Innovative Health Features

New wellness functionalities encompass tailored sleep coaching, bedtime strategies informed by circadian rhythms, and a Vascular Load feature that gauges stress on the vascular system during periods of rest. One of the standout features is the Antioxidant Index, a first in smartwatches, which delivers insights into carotenoid levels in just five seconds, aiding in the pursuit of healthy ageing.

Advanced Fitness Coaching

The Galaxy Watch8 also introduces a Running Coach tool that offers real-time performance insights while establishing customised fitness plans for runners. Users can further enhance their wellness journeys through the updated Together feature, now supporting group activities. Additional features such as High Stress Alert, Mindfulness Tracker, and the AI-driven Energy Score assist users in maintaining a balanced approach to physical and mental health throughout the day.

Integration with Gemini and Wear OS 6

The Galaxy Watch8 series marks the debut of Google’s AI assistant, Gemini, in a smartwatch. It operates on Wear OS 6, paired with Samsung’s new One UI 8 Watch, enabling functionalities such as voice commands for running or messaging from the wrist. The enhanced Multi-Info Tiles facilitate quick access to vital health statistics, weather updates, and schedules.

Size and Compatibility Options

The Galaxy Watch8 is available in two sizes: 44mm and 40mm, presented in Graphite or Silver. The Galaxy Watch8 Classic, featuring a rotating bezel, offers a 46mm variant available in Black or White. Both models are compatible with a new selection of interchangeable bands. Additionally, the Galaxy Watch Ultra and Galaxy Ring were previewed, targeting users in need of more rugged or subtler health-tracking solutions.
