AI-Powered Cricket Analysis App Developed by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella revealed on Thursday that his leisure time has been devoted to creating an AI-powered cricket analysis application. This innovative tool allowed him to select his all-time Indian Test cricket XI, as reported by Bloomberg.

Deep Research AI: Merging Technology and Cricket

During a corporate event held in Bangalore, Nadella explained that he crafted the Deep Research AI application over the Thanksgiving holiday to combine his passion for technology and cricket. The system generated consensus areas, facilitated debates, and provided reasoning chains, which Nadella described as fantastic. He expressed a desire to join the Copilot team due to this experience. The audience was shown how the app analysed each player selection, notably a close decision for captaincy between Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, with Kohli narrowly taking the lead.

Partnership with the Indian Government

While in India, Nadella participated in the signing of a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Microsoft and the Ministry of Labour and Employment in New Delhi. This agreement, which was signed in the presence of Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, focuses on increasing job opportunities, enhancing AI-based training, and equipping Indian workers for roles on a global scale.

Enhancing Job Opportunities through AI

A major aspect of this partnership involves Microsoft’s commitment to integrating more than 15,000 employers and partners from its international network into the National Career Service (NCS) platform. The government believes this initiative will expand access to formal employment and benefit high-growth sectors.

AI in Skilling Initiatives

The pact will also amplify AI-driven skilling via DigiSaksham, aiming to train millions of young individuals in AI, cloud technology, cybersecurity, and productivity tools.

Milestones in Social Protection

Nadella highlighted India’s remarkable achievements in social protection, indicating that coverage has increased from 19% in 2015 to a notable 64.3% in 2025, positively impacting over 940 million citizens. By incorporating AI into platforms like e-Shram and the National Career Service, the goal is to strengthen social security and approach the target of providing social protection to 1 billion citizens by March 2026.

He commended the progress observed in social protection, noting that it now encompasses 64.3% of the population. Nadella also praised the e-Shram initiative for incorporating unorganised workers into a safety net and promoting data-driven policymaking in real time.
