AI Partnerships: Strengthening the US-India Relationship
US Ambassador Sergio Gor addressed the press Conclave 2026, themed “The Intelligence Exchange,” emphasising the importance of enhancing the partnership between India and the US in technology, trade, and strategic security. He placed artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront and called for deeper AI collaborations between the US and India amid global technological transformations under Trump 2.0.
Progress in US-India Relations
During his remarks, Gor pointed out that the dynamics between the United States and India are evolving positively.
Globally, various forces are putting institutions to the test and altering economies, but in the context of US-India relations, there is a shift from breakdowns to breakthroughs.
The Role of Artificial Intelligence
Gor underscored the significance of AI as a crucial component, indicating that nations embracing AI will define the forthcoming era of economic advancement and innovation.
He stated that artificial intelligence is revolutionising the global economy at a remarkable pace, and countries that effectively utilise these technologies will lead the way in growth and innovation.
Collaboration with American Technology
Furthermore, he urged India to engage closely with American AI firms and technology systems, enabling both nations to develop sophisticated solutions while safeguarding their data sovereignty.
Instead of attempting to construct every part of the technology infrastructure independently, collaborative efforts are needed. Independent partnerships are vital for unlocking the wealth that AI can generate for everyone involved.
Investment Expansion
Gor also discussed the rising investments from companies like Micron Technology in India.
This investment enhances supply chain resilience, fosters advanced manufacturing in India, and exemplifies how American firms and Indian expertise can collaborate to establish the industries of tomorrow.
Pax Silica Programme
He highlighted the Pax Silica programme, aimed at reinforcing the entire semiconductor supply chain with reliable partner nations. Notably, India was among the first nations invited to join this initiative, showcasing the United States’ recognition of India as a key player in technology partnerships.
