Tech Mahindra Addresses Layoff Rumours
Tech Mahindra Ltd. has provided clarity regarding the false allegations about over 30,000 layoffs. The company confirmed in its exchange filing on March 9 that there are no large-scale workforce reductions planned.
In its filing, Tech Mahindra referenced “certain social media posts” that have circulated misinformation about layoffs, asserting that such reports are unfounded and do not align with the company’s operational strategies.
Company Statement on Workforce Stability
Tech Mahindra stated that it felt it was essential to inform the Stock Exchanges that there are no proposals for job reductions being considered, and it categorically rejects these market speculations.
Responses to Social Media Claims
This announcement comes in light of numerous posts on X (formerly Twitter) that suggested a significant layoff initiative by the company. One of the shared claims indicated that around 30,000 employees could be affected due to an extensive shift towards Artificial Intelligence (AI) integration in its operations.
Current Workforce Details
Thus, Tech Mahindra has confirmed that no job reductions are on the horizon at this moment. According to its most recent quarterly data, the company boasts a workforce of 150,000 employees worldwide. Moreover, the company also clarified in its previous quarter reports that it is enhancing efficiency within fixed-price projects by reallocating staff from those assignments to new opportunities.
Industry-wide Layoff Trends
Recently, firms such as Morgan Stanley announced around 2,500 job cuts, impacting approximately 3% of its global staff. Similarly, the company led by Jack Dorsey, Block, has made over 4,000 job cuts, while Amazon executed its second significant round of layoffs within two months, resulting in nearly 15,000 job losses.
As layoffs in the tech industry have become an increasing concern, speculations regarding substantial job cuts tend to spread swiftly, particularly through social media. This situation often compels companies to intervene and clarify their workforce strategies.
