Trump Mobile Launches New Telecommunications Venture
The Trump family has introduced Trump Mobile, a new entrant in the telecommunications sector, alongside a gold smartphone known as the T1, claiming it is proudly designed and manufactured in the United States. This latest network is supported by Liberty Mobile, a lesser-known mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that utilises T-Mobile’s infrastructure.
Pricing and Plans of Trump Mobile
Priced at $47.45 (approximately ₹3,960) per month, the only offering, called The 47 Plan, guarantees unlimited calls, texts, and data, alongside benefits like roadside assistance and 24/7 telehealth services. The network is expected to provide coverage comparable to other T-Mobile-based MVNOs, including Mint Mobile and US Mobile, although at a considerably higher rate.
T1 Smartphone Details
The T1 Phone is available for $499 (around ₹41,600) and can now be pre-ordered with a deposit of $100 (roughly ₹8,330). According to the information on the Trump Mobile website and press release, it is expected to ship by August or September 2025.
Trump Mobile describes the T1 as a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for high performance. However, the promotional materials have generated significant skepticism. The images showcased on the site seem edited, displaying a brushed gold design adorned with a US flag and the “T1” logo. The triple-lens arrangement aims to reflect iPhone designs, yet features peculiar spacing and lacks a flash.
T1 Specifications
The specifications listed are a blend of strengths and weaknesses. The device operates on Android 15 and features a 6.78-inch 120Hz OLED display, equipped with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of expandable storage, and a 5,000mAh battery. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, glaring inaccuracies on the website, such as confusing RAM with storage and an erroneous mention of a “5000mAh long life camera”, have raised concerns.
The rear camera includes a 50-megapixel main sensor flanked by 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors, with no ultrawide lens information available at this time.
Statements from Donald Trump Jr.
Donald Trump Jr., EVP of The Trump Organization, stated that Trump Mobile aims to revolutionise the market, building on the movement prioritising America. He asserted that the company operates from the United States, emphasising that this aligns with customer expectations and needs.
Celebrity Influence in Telecommunications
This new venture also coincides with a rising trend of celebrities entering the telecommunications industry. While Ryan Reynolds exited this area following Mint Mobile’s sale to T-Mobile in 2023, SmartLess Mobile, a fresh MVNO launched by actors Will Arnett, Jason Bateman, and Sean Hayes, debuted just last week.
