Pixel 10 Launch: AI-Powered Features Transform Photography
Google has officially revealed the Pixel 10 series, featuring the innovative Pixel 10 Pro Fold, with a significant emphasis on artificial intelligence. Alongside these smartphones, the company has unveiled a substantial enhancement to Google Photos: conversational AI-driven editing.
Conversational Editing with Google Photos
The latest functionality enables users to perform edits simply by articulating their needs in everyday language, through either text or voice. Driven by Google’s Gemini AI, the application can interpret commands such as “remove the cars in the background”, “restore this old photo”, or even broad suggestions like “make it better”. Users have the option to refine modifications with additional instructions or explore creative alterations such as changing backgrounds, adding elements like sunglasses or party hats, and executing imaginative transformations.
Transparency and C2PA Content Credentials
To promote transparency, Google Photos is incorporating support for C2PA Content Credentials. This metadata will indicate whether an image was captured natively, enhanced by AI, or edited. The Pixel 10 models are the pioneers in integrating this industry-standard framework directly within the camera application, with Google Photos scheduled to extend this feature to Android and iOS devices in the near future.
Global Rollout of AI Features
The conversational editing attribute will first launch in the US on the Pixel 10 series, before gradually being available in other regions, including India. Google asserts that this update aims to simplify photo editing for everyone, irrespective of technical know-how, while setting a new benchmark for transparency in AI-driven image creation.
