WhatsApp Introduces New Feature for Easy Message Copying

WhatsApp Develops New Feature for Effortless Message Copying

WhatsApp is launching an innovative feature designed to simplify the process of copying specific parts of messages in chats. Noted in the most recent beta versions of the messaging platform for both iOS and Android, this anticipated feature enables users to highlight and select particular words or phrases within a message, streamlining the process without the need to copy entire texts and edit them manually afterwards.

Details of the New Feature

As reported by WABetaInfo, a reliable source for WhatsApp updates, the partial text selection tool has been discovered in WhatsApp Beta for iOS version 25.16.81 and WhatsApp Beta for Android version 2.25.18.3. Once the feature is officially released, users will have the capability to slide their fingers across a message to highlight a designated section, after which a pop-up menu will present options for quick actions such as copying and sharing.

Enhancing User Experience

At present, WhatsApp does not offer the option to selectively copy a fragment of text within a single message, a limitation that can be particularly inconvenient when faced with lengthy messages or needing to forward specific information. This new feature is set to fill this usability gap and enhance the overall messaging experience.

Current Availability and Future Rollout

Currently, the partial copy functionality is exclusively available to a select group of iOS beta testers participating in Apple’s TestFlight programme, and it has not yet become accessible to Android testers through the Google Play Beta Programme. However, WABetaInfo indicates that the feature is expected to gradually become available to a broader audience in the upcoming weeks.

Official Announcement Status

As of now, Meta has yet to make an official announcement regarding this feature.
