As detailed in WhatsApp’s official blog, the Incognito Chat feature leverages Meta’s “Private Processing technology,” designed to keep interactions with the AI chatbot concealed from all external entities. This innovative technology utilises Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), ensuring that conversations are processed in a secure cloud environment that restricts access for anyone else.
This means that dialogues will remain temporary and confidential between the user and the Meta AI chatbot. WhatsApp clarified that “Incognito Chat with Meta AI is genuinely private — no one can view your dialogue, not even us.”
Features of Incognito Chat with Meta AI
The Incognito Chat feature fosters a secure and temporary platform for users to communicate privately with the chatbot. Meta asserts that only the user possesses visibility of the chat, and messages are handled within a secure framework that even Meta cannot reach. Furthermore, conversations are not stored permanently and will disappear automatically by default.
Availability of Meta AI Incognito Chat
The Incognito Chat feature in Meta AI will be gradually rolled out to WhatsApp users and within the Meta AI application in the forthcoming months. Additionally, WhatsApp has announced a forthcoming “Side Chat” feature, enabling users to discreetly seek assistance from Meta AI during ongoing conversations. The AI will grasp the context of the dialogue and provide support without disrupting the primary chat.
This feature is expected to launch in the upcoming months and will also utilise the Private Processing technology to further enhance privacy.
