Wipro Enhances AI Strategy with New AI-Native Division
Wipro, a prominent Indian IT service provider, is significantly investing in Artificial Intelligence technologies through the establishment of its AI-Native Business and Platforms Unit. This initiative marks a strategic move away from conventional IT outsourcing towards providing services that function as software, designed to be scalable and reusable.
Leadership Changes at Wipro
As part of this new focus, Wipro has announced some shifts in its leadership. Nagendra Bandaru has been designated as the Chief Executive Officer of this newly formed AI unit. Bandaru, with over thirty years at Wipro, previously led the Technology Services Global Business Lines as President and Managing Partner.
In his new role, Bandaru will report directly to Wipro’s CEO and Managing Director, Srini Pallia. Subsequently, Kanwar Singh has been appointed as the new President and Managing Partner of Technology Services Global Business Lines, stepping into Bandaru’s former role. Singh comes with a strong background from Accenture and is expected to take on a broader mandate at Wipro.
Purpose of the AI-Native Business and Platforms Unit
The aim of the AI-Native Business and Platforms unit is to expand Wipro’s enterprise-grade agentic AI platforms, delivering innovative AI solutions tailored for businesses.
The focus will be on creating new AI-driven products and services by integrating all of Wipro’s Intelligence platform assets. This includes platforms like NetOxygen for AI-enhanced lending, aviation cargo platform CROAMIS, and healthcare platforms IHS and HPS, among others. The goal is to develop a robust and cohesive AI portfolio.
This ambitious initiative is expected to be realised through an “invest-build-partner” strategy, where Wipro will invest in novel ideas, develop new AI products, and collaborate with other entities.
Pallia indicates that this direction will enable Wipro to build and scale AI-led platforms rapidly, unlocking numerous opportunities for growth.
Other Leadership Movements
In conjunction with these developments, Wipro has stated that Suzanne Dann, currently serving as Chief Executive of the Americas-2 Strategic Market Unit, will be leaving the company on May 3, 2026. This wave of leadership changes accompanies Wipro’s intensified focus on advancing its AI initiatives.
