YouTube outage has impacted users globally, including significant disruption in India. On Tuesday night, the service faced serious issues, leading to over 320,000 complaints in the United States alone.

According to the outage tracker Downdetector, a total of 321,958 reports were logged in the US as of 8:18 p.m. ET. Earlier, around 283,490 users had difficulties accessing the platform.

Downdetector noted that user reports indicated problems with YouTube TV starting from 8:13 PM EST.

If any users are experiencing issues accessing YouTube, they are not alone. The YouTube team is actively investigating the situation and will provide updates shortly. TeamYouTube tweeted this message during the outage.

YouTube TV reported 8,923 issues, while Google noted 2,694 complaints regarding the platform.

Situation in India

The outage extended beyond the US. In India, more than 18,000 users reported issues by 6:42 a.m. IST. Downdetector’s data revealed that 71% of affected users in India experienced problems with the app, whereas 18% faced disruptions in live streaming. In the US, 56% of complaints were attributed to the app, 21% to the website, and 12% to login difficulties.

Globally, numerous users encountered a “something went wrong” error message when attempting to access the app. The cause of the outage remains unclear.

YouTube’s Acknowledgment and Social Media Reactions

YouTube acknowledged the disruption in their statement, confirming that they were aware users were experiencing difficulties. They assured users that their teams were on the case and would provide updates as soon as possible. Google Support reiterated this importance, stating they were aware of the issues and were working towards a resolution.

Despite the uncertainty regarding the cause of the outage, users both in India and internationally took to social media, particularly X, to share memes and express their frustrations about the downtime, with many speculating on when normal service would resume.

The experience of users led to humorous social media commentary, with one user questioning if they would have to eat in the traditional way, reflecting the frustration felt during the outage.
