Zoom Restores Service Following Major Outage Affecting Thousands

Zoom Communications Resolves Major Service Outage

Zoom Communications has successfully addressed a significant service outage that temporarily affected access for numerous users. The video conferencing leader confirmed that full service has been reinstated and expressed regret for any inconvenience caused.

“Service has now been restored after the earlier outage, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding,” stated Zoom in an announcement.

Details of the Service Outage

As reported by the outage monitoring platform Downdetector, there were as many as 67,280 reported issues by users at the peak of the outage, which occurred around 3:01 p.m. ET. A multitude of users faced challenges logging into meetings or accessing essential features, with some encountering Error Code 5003, signalling a connection failure to Zoom’s servers.

Additionally, Zoom’s own system status webpage and some email services were briefly offline, intensifying user dissatisfaction. One user remarked on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Woooooof, probably not a good sign that even Zoom’s status page is down.” Another user commented, “Maybe avoid hosting your uptime and status pages using the same system or DNS configuration that the rest of your app utilises?”
