Controversy Surrounding Mika Singh’s Criticism of India’s Got Latent
Mika Singh has voiced his concerns regarding the inappropriate content showcased on ‘India’s Got Latent’. He is perplexed as to why artists like himself and Diljit Dosanjh are subjected to notices for less significant actions, while individuals such as Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina seem to evade accountability.
In a video shared on Instagram, Singh expressed that he has never participated in such shows or podcasts for the purpose of promoting his music, while he criticizes those who do attend them.
Mika Singh’s Statement on Accountability
Singh shared his discontent, stating that there should be someone to impose restrictions: “Individuals like me and Diljit Dosanjh face scrutiny whenever we hold an event. Numerous individuals come forward to protect the country’s image. Do not perform songs related to alcohol at public shows and refrain from certain actions. Are these foolish people invisible to you? Isn’t it your duty to send notices to singers or celebrities while you can’t seem to restrain these individuals who have been making nonsensical comments for so long? It is your responsibility to act.”
Responses from Other Prominent Figures
Well-known personalities such as actor Manoj Bajpayee and director Imtiaz Ali have also commented on the ongoing discussions. Bajpayee called Allahbadia’s feedback immature, encouraging young and accomplished individuals to be aware of their surroundings.
On the other hand, Ali stated, “I believe that individuals should pursue what they enjoy, and while obscenity is undoubtedly viewed negatively, it is important not to take the mistakes of those who are immature too seriously,” pointing out the acceptability of personal preferences while affirming that vulgarity should not be tolerated.
Controversial Remarks of Ranveer Allahbadia
Ranveer Allahbadia, known as BeerBiceps, has faced severe criticism following his controversial comments during a show episode, which triggered a considerable public reaction and led to legal consequences. During a segment with comedian Samay Raina, Allahbadia asked an inappropriate question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”
This remark quickly gained traction on social media and faced widespread backlash. Allahbadia later addressed the situation by posting an apology video, conveying, “I should not have made such a statement on India’s Got Latent. I apologize… My comment was not only inappropriate but also lacked humour. Comedy is not my strong suit; I simply came here to say sorry.”
Broader Implications and Legal Actions
The incident initiated a broader conversation about the appropriateness of content on social media platforms. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned Allahbadia’s remarks. Following the public outcry, formal complaints were filed by the Assam police against Allahbadia, Raina, and others associated with the show.
