Google’s Ananta Campus in Bengaluru: A New Era of Technology

Google has unveiled its latest campus, Ananta, in Bengaluru, marking an important step in the tech company’s dedication to India. This expansive campus, one of Google’s largest worldwide, is crafted to enhance innovation and collaboration, showcasing the company’s progressive view on office design.

Ananta, which translates to ‘infinite’ or ‘limitless’ in Sanskrit, represents Google’s ambition for unlimited possibilities through technology. This campus stands as evidence of India’s critical role in the international tech arena, providing cutting-edge infrastructure to support Google’s expanding workforce and its vision to create solutions in India for a global audience.

Strategically Located Ananta Campus

Situated in one of the globe’s rapidly evolving tech regions, Ananta has been developed through a collaboration between Google India and a local design team. The campus introduces state-of-the-art features, including one of India’s largest installations of electro-chromic glass and a distinct sculpted facade that optimises natural light while promoting a productive workplace environment.

A Community Space for Engagement

A notable aspect of the new campus is the Sabha, an expansive amphitheatre-style area designed to encourage community interaction and teamwork. The layout of Ananta reflects Bengaluru’s natural charm, featuring landscaped gardens, walking and jogging paths, and the Aranya forest, which provide employees with serene spots to relax and recharge.

Commitment to Inclusivity and Sustainability

Ananta also exemplifies principles of inclusivity and sustainability. The campus includes accessibility features such as tactile flooring to aid navigation for those with visual impairments, designed amenities, and mindful Braille implementations. Environmentally, it operates with a minimal footprint, recycling 100% of its wastewater, harvesting rainwater, and employing smart glass to reduce energy consumption.

Support for the Local Economy

The interiors of the building incorporate locally sourced materials, reinforcing Google’s pledge to bolster the regional economy while positively impacting the environment.

Insights from Google India’s Leadership

Preeti Lobana, Vice President and Country Manager of Google India, shared insights regarding the company’s vision: “As India navigates an ambitious new path for its citizens through technology, Google has proudly partnered over the last two decades. The new Ananta campus in Bengaluru signifies a crucial milestone in our journey and the technological shift underway with AI. Looking ahead, the focus will be on empowering businesses and individuals through widespread AI adoption, ensuring that this transformation is integrated within vital economic areas like agriculture, health, and fintech. Google aims to collaborate closely with India’s dynamic research and startup ecosystem while enhancing product utility and ensuring opportunities through skill development for individuals with diverse talents.”
