Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Launch Expectations

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is anticipated to launch this year, specifically between June and August, aligning with the usual schedule for foldable phone releases. Recent design leaks have provided insight into what Samsung’s upcoming flagship foldable may look like.

Design Changes in Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

According to leaks from renowned tipster Onleaks, there will be notable changes in this year’s design compared to earlier versions of the foldable phones, which have seen minimal alterations. The leaked images indicate a reduction in bulk, with a notably slimmer profile. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is projected to measure just 4.5mm in thickness when opened and 9.5mm when closed, making it about 1.1mm thinner than the Z Fold 6. Nevertheless, it still lags behind the current slimmest foldable, the Oppo Find N5, which boasts a thickness of only 4.2mm when unfolded.

Display Enhancements

Despite the reduced thickness, the footprint of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is expected to increase, featuring a larger display both internally and externally. The internal display is projected to be an impressive 8.2 inches, making it the most expansive inner display available on a book-style foldable phone. Meanwhile, the outer display is set to grow to 6.5 inches, a slight increase from the 6.3 inches seen on the Fold 6.

Performance and Battery Life

On the performance front, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is likely to utilise the same chipset as the Galaxy S25 series: the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy. The battery capacity is expected to remain at 4400mAh, which may be disappointing for some users. However, improvements in battery efficiency and thermal management could allow the Fold 7 to exceed the longevity of its predecessor despite having an identical battery size.

Camera Upgrades

Samsung is also expected to enhance the camera system on the Galaxy Z Fold 7. A significant upgrade could involve introducing a 200MP primary camera on the back of the device, marking a departure from the long-standing 50MP sensor. Nonetheless, the 12MP ultra-wide lens and 10MP telephoto camera are likely to stay the same this year. Furthermore, reports suggest that there will be no alterations to the front cameras; it will retain the 10MP selfie camera on the outer display and the 4MP under-display camera on the inner display.
