Sisir Radar: Innovative Spacetech Startup Raises $1.5 Million
Sisir Radar, a pioneering spacetech startup known for its Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) technology, has successfully secured $1.5 million in its initial funding round, with Shastra VC leading the investment. The funding round also included contributions from Riverwalk Holdings and INVSTT.
The funds raised will allow Sisir Radar to enhance its research and development alongside its manufacturing capabilities, positioning the company to launch the highest resolution L-band SAR satellite by the close of 2026.

Founded by Dr Tapan Misra, Sisir Radar is at the forefront of SAR technology, catering to defence, intelligence, and commercial sectors. The company prides itself on being the first Indian entity to develop SAR imaging payloads that operate across various frequency bands, including L, P, and X bands.
Real-Time Earth Monitoring
Sisir’s SAR technology provides 24×7 real-time monitoring of the Earth, with capabilities to penetrate darkness, clouds, and thick vegetation. This technology is crucial for multiple applications in defence, agriculture, mining, disaster response, maritime surveillance, and infrastructure oversight.
Partnerships and Achievements
In addition to being a technology partner to key defence contractors in India, Sisir Radar has achieved significant success by winning two IDEX challenges aimed at developing a submetric L-band and a high-resolution P-band SAR satellite for the Indian Air Force.
