AI writing assistant is becoming more accessible as Google expands its ‘Help me write’ feature in Gmail to include Japanese and Korean, as announced on Monday. This initiative is a significant part of a broader effort to enhance its Gemini-powered functionalities for a worldwide audience.

‘Help me write’ initially made its debut during Google I/O 2023, starting with English support and progressively incorporating Portuguese, Spanish, French, German, and Italian. With the addition of Japanese and Korean, the tool now caters to a total of eight languages.

Users can easily locate this feature by clicking the sparkle icon in Gmail, symbolising the Gemini integration. Upon activation, users can specify the desired tone, length, and subject matter of an email, prompting Gemini to generate a draft tailored to their needs. The tool is also capable of rewriting or enhancing current emails, allowing users to communicate in a more professional, casual, or concise manner, depending on their requirements.

Refinement and Efficiency

The AI assistant incorporates several refinement tools as well. It can effortlessly expand, condense, or rephrase messages with just one click. With Gemini embedded directly into the Gmail interface, users benefit from AI assistance without needing to toggle between different applications or platforms.
