AI-powered Message IDs from Truecaller Enhance SMS Management

AI-powered Message IDs have been introduced by Truecaller to assist users in effectively managing their SMS inboxes. This feature is now accessible in India and more than 30 additional countries, using artificial intelligence to detect and emphasise important messages, such as bank notifications, OTPs, delivery updates, flight schedules, and payment reminders.

The tool operates locally on the user’s device, ensuring data privacy while scanning incoming messages. It summarises essential details to enable quicker user action. Notably, Truecaller has made this feature available to all users, without imposing any paywall, thereby benefiting both premium and non-premium users. It is also available in multiple languages, including Hindi.

How to Activate AI-powered Message IDs

To use this feature, users are required to grant the Truecaller app permission to access SMS messages and to display notifications over other applications. Once activated, the system sends real-time alerts for critical messages, allowing users to focus on more pertinent content.

Green Message IDs: A Unique Aspect

An intriguing element of this update is the introduction of Green Message IDs. These IDs feature a verified tick mark, indicating that the message has been sent from an authenticated business source. Truecaller asserts that this verification process aims to strengthen user trust and minimise the potential for scams or spoofed communications.

John Joseph, the Product Director for Insights at Truecaller, mentioned that the integration of AI in Message IDs for both types of users offers a smarter and more secure method for managing significant SMS messages. Their goal is to enhance communication to be safer and more efficient, and this development marks an important advancement in that mission.
