India Mobile Congress 2025: Innovate to Transform

Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, revealed the theme for the upcoming 9th edition of the India Mobile Congress (IMC), titled ‘Innovate to Transform’. This significant tech event is scheduled to take place from 8 to 11 October 2025 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi.

Emphasising Innovation in Telecommunications

The theme highlights the essential role of innovation in driving transformative changes within various sectors, including telecom, infrastructure, and sustainability. During the announcement, Scindia pointed out India’s expanding leadership in digital transformation, stating the country’s dedication to shaping the future rather than merely waiting for it to unfold.

Scindia mentioned, “India today is leading the revolution in the telecommunications space… We have never waited for the future to arrive but have always shaped it.” He also acknowledged India’s advancements in creating a domestic 4G stack and the nation’s position among the top six countries filing patents for 6G technology. He further added, “DSS: Design, Solve, and Scale, has to be our chemical formula in this journey.”

Event Expectations and Highlights

Jointly organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2025 is predicted to attract over 150,000 visitors from more than 150 countries. The event will feature over 400 exhibitors and is expected to host more than 7,000 global delegates. A standout feature will be the flagship startup initiative ASPIRE, which was introduced in 2023. This year, ASPIRE will host over 500 startups, connecting them with 300 investors, venture capitalists, and incubators for mentorship and pitching opportunities.

Technological Vision for a Developed India

Dr Neeraj Mittal, Secretary (Telecom) and Chairman of the Digital Communications Commission (DCC), stated that the growth of IMC reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving a “Viksit Bharat” (developed India) by 2047 through technological innovation. “We were laggards in 4G, we matched the world in 5G, and we aim to lead in 6G,” Mittal noted.

Reflections on IMC’s Impact

COAI Chairman Abhijit Kishore discussed IMC’s growth since its establishment in 2017, noting, “The success of IMC over the last eight years is not just measured in numbers but in the impact it has created on industries, communities, and the nation at large.”

Showcasing Future Technologies

IMC 2025 is scheduled to present over 1,000 use-cases related to 5G, 6G, AI, IoT, green technology, and electronics manufacturing. Organisers aim to exceed the success of IMC 2024, which attracted over 175,000 attendees from more than 120 countries.
