Arun Srinivas Appointed Managing Director for Meta in India

Arun Srinivas is set to take on the role of managing director and head for Meta in India. Previously, Srinivas served as the director and head of the advertising division for Meta India since 2022.

In his prior role, Srinivas was responsible for shaping business strategies and driving revenue growth across all Meta platforms in India, addressing the needs of various businesses. He was an integral member of the India leadership team, focusing on pivotal areas such as AI, Reels, and Messaging to enhance revenue generation.

This announcement follows the expanded responsibilities of Sandhya Devanathan, the vice president for India at Meta, who has also taken on leadership of the company’s operations in Southeast Asia. The updates were shared by Dan Neary, Meta’s head for the Asia Pacific region.

As per Meta India, Srinivas will begin his new role on July 1, 2025, and will maintain his reporting line to Sandhya Devanathan.

Before joining Meta, Srinivas was the chief operating officer and global chief marketing officer at Ola. He departed from Ola in 2020, just a year after his appointment. With a background as a former vice president at Unilever, Srinivas had transitioned to Ola after serving at the private equity firm WestBridge Capital, where he led investments in the consumer sector.

This appointment occurs amid ongoing disputes between Meta and Indian regulatory bodies concerning allegations of anti-competitive practices. Recently, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposed a fine on Meta for violations related to antitrust laws, also restricting WhatsApp from sharing user data with other applications owned by Meta for advertising purposes for a duration of five years.
