Adobe Firefly Mobile App Launches with AI-Powered Features
Adobe has introduced the Firefly mobile app, enabling AI-driven image and video generation on iOS and Android devices. Tailored for creative individuals on the move, this app allows users to create, modify, and refine multimedia content using just a text prompt, whether they’re developing visuals for social media or initiating extensive design projects.
Released from its headquarters in San Jose, Adobe calls the Firefly mobile app a central hub for creativity, merging generative AI features with seamless access to its Creative Cloud tools, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, and Adobe Express.
Ely Greenfield, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer at Adobe, noted that creators continue to amaze with the variety and artistry of images, videos, graphics, and designs produced within the Firefly app using models from both Adobe and its collaborators. The aim of Firefly is to provide creators with the most extensive platform for generative models across the web and mobile, offering a unified experience from ideation through to creation and editing.
Exciting New Features and Collaborations
Alongside the mobile app, Adobe has rolled out Firefly Boards in public beta. This innovative collaborative moodboarding tool allows creative teams to brainstorm using AI-generated images and videos in real time. The platform now includes video support, giving teams the option to remix uploaded footage or create new clips with AI models from companies like Adobe, Google, Luma AI, and Pika.
The Firefly mobile version boasts advanced capabilities, including Text to Image, Text to Video, Generative Fill, and Generative Expand. Users can add or remove elements from images, extend compositions, and even produce stylised videos from static frames. All creations made on mobile automatically sync with users’ Creative Cloud accounts, facilitating an effortless transition between mobile, desktop, and web environments.
Broadened Creative Flexibility
To enhance creative options, Firefly now features generative models from third-party developers such as Ideogram, Runway, Luma AI, and Black Forest Labs. These new collaborations augment existing partnerships with OpenAI and Google, enabling creators to access a wider array of aesthetic choices and tools.
Firefly Boards enables teams to collaborate across various media formats. Its generative capabilities facilitate progressive image modifications using conversational text prompts while supporting rapid prototyping with numerous AI models.
Focus on Ethical Content Creation
Adobe prioritises ethical content creation and appropriate attribution by integrating Content Credentials into all AI-generated media produced within Firefly. These credentials identify which models were applied and promote transparency regarding the creative process.
According to Adobe, creatives have utilised Firefly’s models to produce over 24 billion assets globally. The platform has experienced a 30 percent increase in traffic quarter-over-quarter, with paid subscriptions nearly doubling within the same timeframe.
The Firefly app is now accessible for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store, while Firefly Boards remains in public beta through the Firefly web application. Both offerings are part of Adobe’s Creative Cloud Pro plan.
