Lava Blaze AMOLED 2: The Budget Phone with Premium Features

For anyone accustomed to the sub-₹15,000 Android segment, the standards naturally dip: low-quality LCDs, lagging processors, and excessive bloatware that can’t be removed. The Lava Blaze AMOLED 2, however, seems to defy these expectations, introducing features typically found in more expensive devices.

Design and Display

The first aspect that stands out is its impressively slim profile. Measuring just 7.55mm, the Blaze AMOLED 2 takes the title for the sleekest phone in this price range. The Linea design on the back adds a touch of style without overwhelming the senses. The Feather White variant tested reflects light beautifully, while resisting fingerprints remarkably well.

On the flip side, the 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display welcomes users with deep blacks and vibrant colours. The 120Hz refresh rate ensures smooth scrolling, elevating the viewing experience for HDR videos, which visually astonish at a price point of ₹13,499. It’s the kind of screen that encourages users to revisit classic Netflix shows simply to appreciate their enhanced visuals.

Performance That Feels More Expensive

Under the hood of the Blaze AMOLED 2 is the MediaTek Dimensity 7060, backed by 6GB of LPDDR5 RAM along with an additional 6GB of virtual memory. Lava delivers on its promise of speed, making transitions between demanding applications seamless, while gaming performance is surprisingly impressive. An AnTuTu score exceeding 500,000 signifies efficient performance in everyday tasks.

With 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, the device excels at fast app installations, speedy file transfers, and minimal loading times. The streamlined Android 15 interface devoid of bloatware further enhances the user experience, ensuring that there are no unrelated apps vying for attention.

Cameras That Punch Above Their Weight

The 50MP Sony IMX752 sensor at the rear takes centre stage. Photos captured in daylight are sharp, showcasing natural tones and impressive dynamic range. Night photography exceeds expectations for a budget device, and noise control is commendable. The 8MP front camera performs reliably for social media sharing; while it isn’t flagship-level, it does capture skin tones effectively.

Battery and Charging

The 5000mAh battery is competent, typically lasting a day and a half with mixed usage. Users consistently find around 30% battery remaining by the end of the day. The included 33W charger powers the device in approximately an hour and fifteen minutes. Although not the fastest in its class, it still alleviates battery anxiety effectively.

Verdict

The Lava Blaze AMOLED 2 is far more than just another budget device trying to impress with gimmicks. It excels in fundamental areas, offering a truly premium display along with additional benefits like clean software and reliable performance. Priced at ₹13,499, it stands out as an excellent choice for those in search of something refreshing without stretching their budget.

Pros

  • Impressive 120Hz AMOLED display
  • Slim and lightweight form factor
  • Reliable performance powered by Dimensity 7060
  • Clutter-free Android 15 experience
  • Strong main camera output

Cons

  • Charger is efficient, but not the quickest available
  • Front camera performance in low light could improve
