Key Features of the Apple Watch Ultra 3
The major highlight of the Ultra 3 includes integrated two-way satellite communication. Users without access to cellular or Wi-Fi services can message emergency responders, communicate with friends and family, and convey their location. Apple has stated that this technology has been redesigned to enhance antenna strength, allowing connections with satellites moving at speeds of 15,000 mph from distances of up to 800 miles.

Eugene Kim, who is the vice president of Apple Watch Hardware Engineering, noted that the Apple Watch Ultra is the company’s most advanced edition yet, crafted to guide users through various activities—from sports and adventures to daily living. He highlighted that this smartwatch is equipped with innovative satellite communications, which enhance safety and connectivity in remote areas, along with extended battery life, 5G capabilities, and comprehensive health insights, along with popular fitness features.
Display and Battery Life
The Ultra 3 features Apple’s largest watch display, showcasing LTPO3 and wide-angle OLED technology. The always-on refresh rate operates at one tick per second, benefitting functionalities like the stopwatch and timer. In terms of battery performance, the device can last up to 42 hours under normal conditions and extends to 72 hours when activated in Low Power Mode. For outdoor fitness sessions, users can expect 20 hours of full GPS and heart rate monitoring usage.
5G Connectivity and App Support
The smartwatch now additionally supports 5G, allowing for quicker app downloads, music streaming, and improved performance in areas with poor reception, thanks to its dual-antenna technology.
Health Monitoring Features
Newly added hypertension notifications are designed to identify consistent indicators of chronic high blood pressure. By utilizing optical sensors and machine learning, trained on data from over 100,000 participants, the device evaluates vascular activity over 30-day periods. Apple anticipates this feature will alert over one million individuals with undiagnosed hypertension in the first year.
Additionally, the updated sleep score feature offers comprehensive nightly reports on sleep quality, drawing insights from over five million nights of data collection.
Enhanced Workout Experience
The revamped Workout application includes Workout Buddy, an enhanced fitness experience powered by Apple Intelligence. This feature provides personalised spoken encouragement during physical activities like running and cycling, using metrics such as pace, distance, heart rate, and overall training load. Athletes now have access to sophisticated features like accurate GPS, automatic track detection, stride length and cadence analysis, alongside new customisable workout options.
Design and Sustainability
Offered in natural and black titanium finishes, the Ultra 3 is water-resistant up to 100 metres and is certified for diving with the Oceanic+ application. New band options feature reflective Trail Loops and Hermès rubber diving straps.
In a bid for sustainability, the Ultra 3 incorporates 40 percent recycled materials, including fully recycled cobalt in its battery and titanium in its case, manufactured using a 3D printing method that reduces raw material usage by half. The packaging is made entirely from recyclable fibre-based materials.
Availability and Pricing
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is available for pre-order starting today and will hit stores on Friday, September 19. All satellite functionalities are included free of charge for two years.
The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is priced at Rs 89,900 and is offered in both natural and black titanium options.
