Trust and safety-technology AI startup Contrails AI has successfully secured $1 million in a pre-seed funding round, which was co-led by Huddle Ventures and IAN Group. This new capital will support pilot programmes in the US and EU, spanning various sectors including marketplaces, media companies, financial institutions, and prominent digital platforms, as stated in a press release from Contrails.
Co-founded by Digvijay Singh and Amitabh Kumar, Contrails AI is dedicated to protecting online businesses in the era of GenAI. The company offers solutions that are trusted by marketplaces, media companies, financial services, and international digital platforms. Based in Bengaluru, this startup integrates deep-tech advancements with expertise in multimodal AI to create a compliance-ready safety framework that protects digital ecosystems on a global scale.
By collaborating with firms in both service and technology sectors, the startup aims to promote the adoption of trust and safety solutions while developing a secure and interconnected digital environment. Contrails’ unique AI forensics and manipulation detection technology provides real-time analysis along with layered explainability, enabling platform review teams to identify, evaluate, and respond to threats in a timely manner.
The platform addresses the challenge of cybercrime using a comprehensive approach across various mediums including video, images, audio, and text. It merges fraud detection with forensic DNA analysis and leverages international data insights. Market research indicates a substantial increase in deepfake files, rising from 500,000 in 2023 to an anticipated 8 million by 2025, while phishing attacks are resulting in astonishing losses of $17,700 every minute.
