Amazon Now Expands Its Ultra Fast Delivery Service in Gurugram
E-commerce giant Amazon India has launched its rapid delivery service, Amazon Now, in Gurugram, further enhancing its quick commerce reach across major Indian cities. Amazon Now facilitates the delivery of everyday essentials within 10 minutes, thanks to a network of micro fulfilment centres strategically situated near customer communities. This service is accessible through the primary Amazon app for selected pin codes.
The Journey of Amazon Now
The 10-minute delivery service was first tested in Bengaluru back in December. During this trial phase, Amazon made a limited selection of everyday items available, including groceries, personal care products, and small household goods. Following the successful pilot in Bengaluru, Amazon introduced the service in Delhi, launching Amazon Now in select areas of the city. By September, Amazon had further broadened the reach of Amazon Now to Mumbai. At that time, the company confirmed that it had established over 100 micro fulfilment centres across Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai to support the 10-minute delivery pledge.
Continuous Expansion of Amazon Now
Amazon has announced its plan to open two micro fulfilment centres each day, enhancing the capability for 10-minute deliveries across more neighbourhoods in Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai. The company anticipates that this rapid expansion will increase Amazon Now’s network to over 300 centres by the year’s end, a significant rise from approximately 100 during the festive season.
In a recent update on social media, Amit Agarwal, head of Amazon India, highlighted that the company had trialled the quick delivery service from micro fulfilment centres located in Haryana, where teams successfully pick, pack, and deliver daily essentials in mere minutes.
Competition in the Quick Commerce Space
The development comes alongside increasing competition within the quick commerce industry, with companies like Zepto, Blinkit, and Instamart intensifying their expansion strategies. Amazon’s competitor, Flipkart, entered this sector earlier by launching its quick delivery service, Minutes, in Gurugram and other areas of the NCR region late last year.
