Shikhar Dhawan Celebrates New Chapter with Sophie Shine
Shikhar Dhawan, the former opener for India, has embarked on a new journey. On 21 February, Dhawan tied the knot with his long-time partner Sophie Shine during a private ceremony surrounded by close friends and family.
After months filled with speculation, including their public debut during the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai and their engagement announcement on Instagram in January, the couple has officially committed to each other.
The initial glimpses of their wedding day were shared not by the couple, but rather by Dhawan’s teammate and friend Yuzvendra Chahal, who posted heartwarming moments from the event with the caption, “Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai.”
Who is Sophie Shine?
Sophie Shine, an Irish finance expert, holds the position of Second Vice President – Product Consultant at Northern Trust Corporation, a top global financial services firm.
According to her LinkedIn profile, she began as a Client Service Representative in Ireland, transitioned to a Product Consultant role, and later climbed to a senior leadership position within the organisation.
Prior to her tenure at Northern Trust, Sophie gained experience in Ireland’s financial sector, having worked at Chardavin District Credit Union and Debenhams.

Dhawan’s Personal Setback and Legal Battle
This marriage signifies a new beginning for Dhawan. His divorce from Aesha Mukherjee was finalised in October 2023 after an 11-year marriage.
The Delhi court has granted him visitation rights to his son, Zoravar, although permanent custody was not awarded.
Those close to Dhawan suggest that the previous few years have been emotionally taxing. Despite this, in recent public appearances — whether at cricket events or other forums — he has indicated that he is rediscovering happiness.
