LAT Aerospace Expands with Acquisition of Sharang Shakti
LAT Aerospace, a leader in hybrid-electric regional aircraft, has taken a significant step by acquiring Sharang Shakti, a defence robotics startup located in Gurugram, for an undisclosed sum. This move marks the company’s initial foray into bolstering indigenous defence capacities while continuing its long-term objective of crafting next-generation civil aviation solutions from India.
Karan Goyal, in a LinkedIn announcement regarding the acquisition, remarked that civil aviation and defence are typically viewed as distinct sectors; however, the fundamental technology frameworks across autonomy, perception, sensing, navigation, guidance, and control systems are interconnected.
Investment and Future Plans of LAT Aerospace
Co-founded in early 2025 by Karan Goyal, LAT Aerospace has thus far secured an investment of $20 million. Reports suggest the company is also seeking to raise an additional $50 million in funding.
About Sharang Shakti
Sharang Shakti, established in 2023 by Karan Goyal, Chirag Singla, Gaurav Kumar, Jitendra Singh, and Rishabh Choudhary, focuses on developing systems for mitigating aerial threats and drone attacks. Their innovations include advanced drone detection radar and interceptor technologies.
Enhancing Autonomous Defence and Aerospace Solutions
Through this acquisition, LAT Aerospace is set to enhance its expertise in areas such as autonomous technology, defence electronics, and aerospace-grade control systems.
With a focus on developing hybrid-electric regional aircraft and vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) platforms, LAT Aerospace aims to revolutionise regional air mobility. The company officially announced its launch in 2024.
This latest development follows the recent resignation of Deepinder Goyal from his role as Group CEO of Zomato’s parent company, Eternal.
