Women Entrepreneurs Leading India’s Food Revolution
In the fast-changing food and business landscape, women are playing a pivotal role, spearheading innovation and transformation like never before. These women are not only altering the culinary experience but are also redefining business practices within a previously male-oriented industry. Their ingenuity, determination, and leadership are shaping the future of food, one dish at a time.
Swiggy, a leading platform in India’s food delivery sector, acknowledged this significant change with its 2026 edition of “She The Change.” This prominent initiative, under the theme “From Vision to Venture,” aims to honour women entrepreneurs who are redefining India’s culinary and business sectors.
Honouring the Trailblazers
Swiggy recognised the outstanding contributions of 28 women from the F&B industry by presenting awards in two categories: Entrepreneur of the Year and Chef of the Year. These women were recognised for their pioneering efforts in culinary creativity and their entrepreneurial spirit. Notable honorees included Aditi Dugar from Masque, Alina Alam from Mitti Cafe, and Saloni Kukreja of Indu Ice Cream, among others.
The award ceremony, attended by Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism & Culture, Government of India, and Sriharsha Majety, Co-Founder and CEO of Swiggy, highlighted the remarkable achievements of these women and their influence on the industry.
A Platform for Transformation
The initiative exemplifies the platform’s dedication to empowering women within India’s F&B sector. With 70,000 women-led restaurants already featured on Swiggy, these entrepreneurs are not only reshaping how India dines but are also creating substantial employment opportunities.
Women-Led Growth at the Core of India’s Food Evolution
In his address, Shekhawat underscored the vital role that women-led enterprises play in propelling India’s economic advancement, particularly outside the major urban areas. He stressed that organisations that collaborate with and support women entrepreneurs are crucial for fostering inclusive economic progress. He appreciated Swiggy’s commitment over the last 12 years to advocate for women’s entrepreneurship, highlighting that initiatives like “She The Change” are essential in motivating future generations of women to embark on their entrepreneurial journeys.
Rohit Kapoor, CEO of Swiggy Food Marketplace, also reiterated the platform’s objective to back women entrepreneurs. He noted that the narratives of resilience, creativity, and leadership shared by these women are truly motivating, and expressed pride in being part of their journeys.
