Hunter Alpha AI Model – A Leap into the Future

On March 11, 2026, the Hunter Alpha artificial intelligence model appeared unexpectedly on OpenRouter, a developer platform for routing queries to various AI systems.

This listing was particularly intriguing as there had been no formal announcement or identification of the developers involved. The platform designated these models as “stealth models.”

The chatbot indicated its knowledge was limited to its name, parameter scale, and the length of its context window.

Subsequently, Reuters connected the “Hunter Alpha” model to an impending release from the Chinese AI start-up DeepSeek. Speculation surrounding the DeepSeek V4 had been intensifying, and this listing heightened excitement due to the model’s impressive specifications.

Reports suggested that DeepSeek V4 shares the same specifications as Hunter Alpha, with an anticipated launch in April. Thus, the timing of the listing appeared to be a coincidence.

However, it was later clarified that the AI model does not originate from DeepSeek. Here are the essential details.

The Hype Surrounding the Hunter Alpha Model

Following an increase in speculation, Luo Fuli, who heads Xiaomi’s AI division, MiMo, and has previously worked at DeepSeek, shared a post on X (formerly Twitter). The post disclosed that the Hunter Alpha model is an “early internal test build of MiMo-V2-Pro.”

Luo described the situation as a quiet ambush, stating that it was not planned, but rather a reaction to the sudden paradigm shift from Chat to Agent, which unfolded more rapidly than anticipated.

Thus, the discreet and anonymous release aimed to collect unbiased user feedback prior to a formal announcement of the model.

MiMo-V2-Pro, along with Omni and TTS, has been launched as the first comprehensive model family crafted specifically for the Agent era. The shift from the chat model to more advanced agents caught even the developers off guard.

The Capabilities of the Hunter Alpha Model

Hunter Alpha is designed to function as the “brain” behind an AI agent, enabling tools to perform intricate tasks with reduced human involvement compared to traditional AI chatbots.

Details on Hunter Alpha reveal that it is a 1-trillion-parameter model, featuring a context window that can process up to 1 million tokens simultaneously. This means it can handle and remember extensive text or documents during a single conversation, making it an exceptionally robust AI model.

A report from Reuters indicated that MiMo plans to collaborate with five major agent frameworks, including OpenClaw, to offer developers worldwide free access for a week. Xiaomi also intends to open-source the models once they reach a level of stability justifying it.

In addition, Xiaomi’s publicly traded shares in Hong Kong experienced a 5.8% increase on March 19, following the announcement of the AI model. The company is transforming from a smartphone and EV manufacturer into a formidable AI entity with the introduction of the Hunter Alpha model.
