Leadership change at Policybazaar has occurred as Tarun Mathur has resigned from his role as the chief executive officer and principal officer. His resignation took effect on April 7 and was due to personal commitments, as indicated in a regulatory filing by the company.
New CEO and Principal Officer: Sajja Praveen Chowdary
The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has officially approved Sajja Praveen Chowdary to take on the responsibilities of principal officer, CEO, and whole-time director. Chowdary has been a part of PB Fintech since 2011 and currently oversees Policybazaar for Business, focusing on corporate, SME insurance, and reinsurance solutions.
Chowdary’s Contributions and Experience
Throughout his career at Policybazaar, Chowdary has directed multiple functions including business management, product development, and technology. He has significantly contributed to the growth of Policybazaar’s retail insurance sectors, notably in motor and term life insurance, while also introducing innovative solutions to streamline insurance purchases for customers.
With over 17 years of experience in business management, product innovation, technology, and project management within the e-commerce industry, Chowdary has a solid academic foundation. He holds a postgraduate degree in marketing from IMT Ghaziabad and a BTech degree in electronics and communications.

Tarun Mathur has been a prominent figure at Policybazaar, contributing over 18 years to the company and holding various leadership roles. His responsibilities included being co-founder and chief business officer, where he excelled in verticals such as analytics, revenue management, life insurance, and strategic initiatives.
