Pratilipi’s Revenue Growth and User Engagement in FY26

Pratilipi has significantly improved its operating revenue in FY26, more than doubling it while effectively managing losses. This reflects an evolving monetisation strategy within its regional content platform. The Bengaluru-based firm also reported strong user engagement along with an increase in contributions from subscriptions, microtransactions, publishing, and intellectual property-driven endeavours.

Financial Overview of Pratilipi in FY26

According to data provided by co-founder Ranjeet Pratap Singh, Pratilipi’s operating revenue surged by 125%, reaching Rs 186 crore in FY26, an increase from Rs 82.4 crore in FY25. Including other income, the company’s total income for the past fiscal year was reported at Rs 189 crore.

Amid ongoing investments in growth and monetisation, losses have been kept mostly stable. Singh indicated that Pratilipi is anticipated to report a net loss of about Rs 45 crore for FY26, a decrease from Rs 50.41 crore the prior year.

User Growth and Engagement Metrics

The company has also made notable progress in its user base, claiming to serve over 50 million users, of which 1.8 million are daily active users and 3.8 million are monthly active users. User engagement metrics remained impressive throughout the year, with users averaging 68 minutes on the platform daily, while paying subscribers are on for close to 139 minutes each day.

Content and Creator Ecosystem

Pratilipi boasts over 20 million stories and approximately 720,000 active creators across various regional languages. Singh noted that about 46% of monthly active users consistently return to the platform daily, indicating a strong level of user retention.

Monetisation Strategies

Over the past year, Pratilipi has fortified its monetisation model through subscriptions and microtransactions, with about 17% of its monthly active users being paying subscribers whose plans are around Rs 150 per month. Furthermore, close to 21% of MAUs engage in monthly payments through microtransactions.

In addition to subscriptions, the company has diversified its revenue streams through publishing and intellectual property monetisation. Singh mentioned that these segments are contributing nearly Rs 16 crore in monthly revenue, comprising Rs 9.3 crore from literature, Rs 6.9 crore from Westland, and Rs 1 crore from IP-led initiatives.

Market Landscape and Funding

Founded in 2014, Pratilipi competes with other platforms such as Pocket FM, Kuku FM, and Pratilipi Comics within the digital storytelling and creator economy sector. The company has successfully secured over $100 million in funding from investors, including Krafton, Nexus Venture Partners, Omidyar Network, and Tencent. Its most recent funding round was a Series E, where it raised $20 million led by Jungle Ventures in April of the previous year.
